PASS survey

Dear Parent or Guardian,

As part of our continuing efforts to provide supports for students, all grade levels will be participating in a brief survey regarding the social and emotional well-being of our students. With a continued commitment to addressing social and emotional barriers to learning, we are asking that all students enrolled in our schools complete the Pupil Attitudes to Self and School (PASS) survey.

Developed by a team of educational psychologists from multiple universities, the PASS survey provides our Social-Emotional Health Team with information that is highly reliable and valid regarding how students feel about themselves as learners and how they feel about school. The PASS survey allows schools to detect possible barriers to student learning, including issues around confidence, resilience, motivation, and concentration.

The PASS survey will allow our schools to proactively address non-academic barriers to learning, which can compromise the well-being and academic success of our students. During this year, the PASS survey is being administered in the Fall and near the end of the year.

Student responses are protected by an individual access code for each student so that students cannot see anyone’s responses but their own.

If you would rather your child not participate in the PASS, please contact the office of your child’s school by September 19 to have your child excluded.

Please direct questions to Kristen Pinter knpinter@tyrone.k12.pa.us or 814-684-0710 x4137.

Thank you,

Kristen Pinter, Director and Curriculum & Instruction for the Tyrone Area School District
