2021-22 Approved Health and Safety Plan and FAQ

August 16, 2021
Dear TASD Families:
Welcome back to the 2021-22 school year! We are excited to have teachers and students returning to the classrooms for what we hope will be a positive, productive year!

On July 13, 2021, the TASD School Board approved the district Health and Safety Plan for the new school year. This plan is a fluid document that will take into consideration emerging guidance and recommendations from state and local officials and will use local data to inform subsequent revisions/decisions. The current document can be found on the TASD website under the COVID-19 tab. In addition, we have provided a Frequently Asked Questions document that will answer some of the most basic questions around the health and safety plan, such as, “Are masks required?” and “Will my child have to quarantine?” Please take the time to read this document. More specific information will be shared by building principals and teachers over the next week.

As previously stated, our goal is to provide a full-time, in-person instructional model for our students for as much of the year as possible. However, we must also practice due diligence and be prepared for any necessary changes. To this end, additional information regarding instructional models and remote learning expectations will be shared in the coming weeks.

While the past seventeen months have been challenging, we remain optimistic about the coming year and the many opportunities that await our students. We look forward to a year of collaboration and support as we work toward the common goal of doing what is best for the students of the Tyrone Area School District.

Sincerely,
Leslie A. Estep
Superintendent of Schools
