How do I start to write my life story? I was the youngest of Mr. & Mrs. William Hoyne’s seven children. Having five older brothers and a sister certainly made life interesting.
After completing elementary school at St. Matthews, I arrived at Tyrone Area Junior-Senior High. My six years at TAHS were filled with both academic pursuits and extra curricular activities. I was often asked if I was Bill’s or Dick’s or Tom’s or Jim’s or Barb’s or Mike’s sister. After all, a Hoyne had graced Tyrone’s halls for many years on end. I graduated from Tyrone with honors and accepted an academic scholarship to St. Francis University.
I again followed my older siblings’ foot steps. Bill, Tom, and Barb all graduated from St. Francis. I majored in biology with plans on attending medical school. My strong foundation from high school enabled me to do well in college and graduate Magna Cum Laude.
My path then took me to Georgetown University School of Medicine, where I joined the Class of 2003. During medical school, I made the decision to pursue a career in obstetrics and gynecology. My residency was served at Georgetown University and I then joined the faculty at Georgetown. My career at Georgetown involved patient care and teaching as well as other academic pursuits. As much as I enjoyed this part of my life, part of me wanted to return to Central Pennsylvania.
The right situation presented itself and I moved back to this area and began my career as an OB/GYN in January of 1994. It did not take long to become involved in many different opportunities that this area has to offer. I am in a private practice but I am also involved in teaching medical resident and physician assistant students from St. Francis University.
