Athletic Announcements

  • The Tyrone Area School District Athletic Department, as a part of the Mountain League and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District 6, will follow all PIAA regulations and adhere to state mandates regarding the return to competition in the fall of 2020.  As such, the Tyrone Area School District has announced the following information regarding fall athletics:

    All sports-related activities must adhere to the gathering limitations set forth by the Governor’s Plan for Phased Reopening (25 or fewer people for indoor activity, 250 or fewer people for outdoor activity).  At this time, spectators are permitted but are counted toward the 25 and 250 person gathering limitations, along with all athletes, coaches, officials, and staff.

    Because of the number of participants and venues, home contests of these fall sports may continue with spectators, up to the 250 person limit for outdoor gatherings:

    • Girls’ and Boys’ Varsity Cross County;
    • High/JV/Varsity Girls’ Soccer;
    • High/JV/Varsity Boys’ Soccer;
    • Girls’ Tennis;
    • Girls’ and Boys’ Golf

    Jr. High/JV/Varsity Football will be limited in the number of spectators that may be in attendance due to the size of team rosters, coaching staff, officials, and other staff.  Information for these events will be released on an event-by-event basis.

    Jr. High/JV/Varsity Girls’ Volleyball will not be permitted to admit spectators at this time, due to the indoor gathering limitation.

    Rules for Spectators:

    • Spectators should not enter the field of play or bench areas.
    • Seating areas should adhere to social distancing requirements of 6 feet of spacing for anyone not in the same household.
    • Face coverings must be worn at all times.

    Community members are respectfully asked to adhere to the current guidelines and restrictions, as doing this will be necessary to allow our student athletes to compete.  Failure to adhere to the requirements could cause the visiting team to leave, resulting in a forfeit for the Golden Eagles.  Additionally, Tyrone could face sanctions from the PIAA which could affect future post season play for ALL Tyrone athletics programs.

    TASD fully supports the attendance of parents and other fans at our athletic events.  Your support of our efforts are important in permitting our students to take part in these activities until such time that we are able to admit additional spectators.

    Please check the TASD Athletics website for more information on schedules, upcoming contests, and opportunities to watch some events virtually.

  • The Athletic Department would like to explain how spectators will be handled at our events.  At this time, we are being held to the 250 outdoors and 25 indoor occupancy numbers.  As a result, we will not be selling season passes and we will not be handing out staff passes so our game personnel can maintain an accurate number of individuals attending the event and so we can remain under the allotted numbers.  This is subject to change at any time.

    Varsity Football:  We are going to try for every home game to accommodate the senior home parents first.  This will depend on the number of players and coaches for the opposing team and will vary for each home game.  At this time, there are no visitor fans permitted at away games.

    JV / Junior High Football:  We will be setting aside tickets for each player’s family to purchase at the gate and the number will be based upon the numbers of players for each team.  Parents or guardians will be required to show ID in order to purchase the tickets.  Tickets will be $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for students.  If we are below 250 based upon the travel numbers from the other teams, we will sell to the public.  We want to make sure parents / guardians and siblings can attend.  Parents can purchase all allotted tickets at one time in cases where another parent may be running late.

    Varsity Soccer:  We will sell tickets at the gate.  Tickets will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students.  The number of tickets sold at the gate will be based upon the team numbers, so we remain at or under 250.  We will set aside tickets for the parents of each team member to buy at the gate up until the start of the match.  Once the match starts we will sell to the public.

    Junior High Soccer:    We will sell tickets at the gate.  Tickets will be $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for students.  The number of tickets sold at the gate will be based upon the team numbers, so we remain at or under 250.  We will set aside tickets for the parents of each team member to buy at the gate up until the start of the match.  Once the match starts we will sell to the public.  We do ask that parents of the junior high girls be respectful of the 250 number and they leave after their match if we are over 250 so the junior high boys parents can attend.

    Cross Country / Tennis / Golf:  Spectators are permitted up to the 250 number.  We will watch and manage these sports as necessary.

    Junior High / JV / Varsity Volleyball:  There will be no spectators at this time.  Senior parents will be able to watch the game from a separate viewing venue.

    Please understand this is subject to change and could do so as late as game day.  We ask that you work with us to make this season as successful as possible for the student athletes.  We are working very hard to provide the best case scenario for all.

    Please remember the rules for spectators:

    • Spectators should not enter the field of play or bench areas.
    • Seating areas should adhere to social distancing requirements of 6 feet of spacing for anyone not in the same household.
    • Face coverings must be worn at all times.
