About Our Board
The Tyrone Area School Board is a legislative body of citizens called school directors who are elected locally by their fellow citizens who serve as agents of the state legislature. The board consists of nine members who serve four-year terms of office without pay. They are designated by school law to administer the school system and are charged with providing quality education for the youth of our community.Members are elected for a four-year term, with the election process calling for five members being eligible for re-election during one election cycle and four being eligible in the next cycle. This 5-4 rotation eliminates having nine new members on a school board and helps ensure consistency and continuity. The Tyrone Area School Board regular meeting schedule is as follows:7:00 PM, 1st Tuesday of each month - Work Session (review and discuss agenda items).7:00 PM, 2nd Tuesday of each month - Board Meeting (discuss and take action on agenda items).Meetings are held in the Administrative Suite of the Elementary Building. Meetings are open to the public and time is set-aside for public input at both meetings. Exceptions to the regular schedule do occur, so please check the board calendar link to get the most current schedule.Agendas for the board meetings may be viewed by following board minutes link.
