• Information for TAMS students and families about Remote Learning

    Attendance
For daily attendance, your advisory teacher will record attendance as usual in your advisory/first period Zoom class.  You need to make sure you are logged into the advisory teacher’s Zoom room by 8:00am.

Students who do not have internet access should call the TAMS office between 7:30 - 8:00am (814-684-4240 x3712) to have their attendance counted for the day.

If you are late to school for the day (logging in for the first time anytime past 8:00am), you need to sign into the Attendance Google link to record your “arrival” time at school.  If you don’t go there before you go to class, you may be marked absent for the day. You will be marked tardy. You should not do this unless you are starting school late for the day (not just late to start a class).

Asynchronous days (December 2nd, 9th, 16th & Jan 6th) your advisory teacher will record attendance as usual in your advisory/first period Zoom class.  You need to make sure you are logged into the advisory teacher’s Zoom room by 8:00am.

Students enrolled in the Tyrone Cyber program DO NOT need to log their attendance.

    Parents
The school must have parental notification to excuse your student’s absence, please email the middle school main office at Kteckley@tyrone.k12.pa.us. This also includes early dismissals. If your student is able to return to class after their appointment please have them sign in using the Google Late Attendance Link prior to attending their zoom class.

Attendance will also be taken by teachers in every class. Students who do not come to class will be referred to the office as a “class cut” and parents/guardians will be notified.

    Classwork
Students have been using CANVAS since the beginning of the year.  For remote learning, each grade has been going over how to find the Remote Learning materials, courses, and live instruction Zoom meetings.  Basic navigation instructions are below for each grade.  Videos about how to get to and navigate CANVAS

    Once students are in CANVAS…

    5th grade
From your DASHBOARD, go to the COURSE called “Remote Learning Days.”

    6th grade

    7th grade

    • Students will also be able to find their elective and rotation class information. We are following the rotation schedule on the website.
    •  In order to save bandwidth, teachers will have the “video” function turned off when it is not necessary to see students. Some classes may open and close the video function, depending on the activity.
    •  Students should put their first name and last initial as their Zoom name.
    •  Students who have scheduled breaks with other teachers or agencies will go to those Zoom rooms when it’s time. These links can be found on the either the grade level’s course Home page, if the grade level has one course created for remote learning. Otherwise the links can be found on each teacher’s course Home page in the grade level.
    •  Students may be instructed by their teachers to use the chat box and/or raise hand features in Zoom.
