Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)

Advisor: Mrs. Taylor, Health Tech Teacher

Grade Levels: 10-12 (must be in a Health Tech student)

Mission: “The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality healthcare by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students, therefore, helping students to meet the needs of the healthcare community.” In other words, HOSA is a student-led group that takes the things learned in the Health Tech classroom and puts them into action, training future medical professionals.

Activities: Blood pressure screenings, healthy behaviors promotions (passed out veggies and fruits in the cafeteria to students), help families in need—Secret Santa family (buying Christmas gifts for a family), food drive competitions, and fundraisers to help us accomplish our activities and help others—such as selling subs, carnations to be delivered on Valentine’s Day (benefitting the American Heart Association), and candles, medical event competitions at the state leadership conference in Lancaster (and hopefully nationals), and an end of the year HOSA banquet to celebrate our accomplishments
