• Tyrone Area School District is committed to providing high quality early childhood programs to all children who reside in the Tyrone School District. All the programs in the partnership provide a curriculum aligned to the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards. Although we cannot guarantee placement in any particular program, we will make every effort to match children and their families to the program that will best meet their needs.
     
    Children must turn 3 or 4 by September 1 of the current school year to be eligible. 
     
    The following preschool options are available:
     
    Title 1 and Pre-K counts Half Day K4 (4 year olds) 
    • 5 half days a week
    • monthly parent involvement activities required
    • Parents provide transportation
    • Free, no tuition
    • Must qualify under Title 1 or Pre-K Counts guidelines
    PA Pre-K Counts Full Day K4 (4 year olds)
    • 5 days a week
    • Monthly parent involvement activities required
    • Parents provide transportation
    • Free, no tuition
    • Must qualify under Pre K Counts guidelines
    Title 1 and PA Pre-K Counts K3 Preschool Classes (3 year olds)
    • 5 Half days a week
    • Monthly parent involvement activities required
    • Parents provide transportation
    • Free, no tuition 
    • Provided in an inclusive preschool setting
    • Transportation is provided
    • Free, no tuition
    • Must qualify under IU guidelines
    • 4 half days a week
    • Transportation is provided
    • Free, no tuition
    • Must qualify under Head Start guidelines
