Graduate of Juniata Valley High School

I grew up on a dairy farm in Northern Huntingdon County as the youngest of four boys. I graduated from Juniata Valley High School and attended Penn State, studying Mechanical Engineering. I left college a year prior to graduating to begin a career in hospitality management that encompassed 20 years of my life. I returned to Penn State in 2002 to begin pursuing a career in education. I completed my undergraduate degree in secondary Education with an emphasis in Earth and Space Science and  Environmental Science. Upon graduation, and because of my earlier engineering studies, I took and passed both the Earth & Space Science and Secondary Mathematics certification exams. After teaching for a year, I returned to Penn State to pursue Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction. I was hired by the Tyrone Area School District in the fall of 2008 as a math teacher in both the high school and middle school. A year later, Tyrone opened their cyber academy and I added cyber teaching to my job duties, teaching both math and science. In 2010 I took over as head coach of Tyrone's boys and girls varsity track & field teams. The rest, as they say, is history!
